Hey guys, I’m Todd and this is Olivia and today I’m going to be talking to you about squats.

Squats are a great exercise because they burn off lots of calories, and they also work some of the largest muscle groups in the body – glutes (gluteus maximus), quads (quadriceps), and hammies (hamstrings).

So first we’ll do a normal parallel squat, just halfway down and back up. Great. Now, for a more advanced exercise we’ll go down a bit lower, to engage our core muscles and our glutes. As you come back up from the squat, you’ve got to really trigger your glutes to come back up.

Now, we’ll do a variation with where you place your feet. Start with feet nice and wide and pointed out away from each other, this is called a sumo squat and this really works your inner thighs. So again, you can do a parallel squat (halfway down) or go all the way down to work the glutes.

This time we’ll do feet close together and a straight, normal squat. Don’t forget, it’s a major glute exercise so really fire up those glutes and keep your core on nice and tight.
